Let it Be: Cover vs Original
This is a review of comparing the song “Let it Be” by the Beatles with a cover by JP Cooper.
I will be comparing two versions of a Beatles song called “Let it Be”. One version is famous and is also the original and was sung by the Beatles. Another version is a newer version and was sung by JB Cooper.
The introduction is just vocals for JB Cooper. However, for the Beatles there is a piano melody at the beginning. JB Cooper modified it by adding embellishment and making it more emotional than the original. The original is faster than the cover done by JB Cooper. The cover does not contain any drums, while the original has drums to a swing rhythm.
One interesting part is in the middle section of JB Cooper’s version, the vocals lead to the key change from C major to Eb Major, and they don' t do the pentatonic rock section. On the other hand,in the Beatles’ version they do a pentatonic rock part, and they have a hammond organ.
I enjoyed both versions equally. I liked that the Beatles contained more rock elements, while JB Cooper included a key change.
